Another Big Step Forward in the XRP Lawsuit

In earlier updates shared by the defense lawyer, James K Filan ”The SEC has filed a letter stating that it does not seek to take additional discovery at this time, but both parties reserve their rights to take discovery limited to the disgorgement issue, if necessary after liability is decided”.

XRP-friendly attorney, Jeremy Hogan sees this as a big step forward ”Almost NOTHING would have surprised me more than this. And yes, this is a very good thing. The only remaining areas of delay are the appeal re the Hinman emails and in general, just scheduling. SEC discovery is complete and that’s a big step forward”.

In fresh updates, The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has informed Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn that it intends to oppose the court’s recent deliberative process privilege (DPP) ruling, asking for additional time. The agency has said that it intends to raise new privilege assertions in its recent letter.

ETH Shadow Forks Planned for Next Week

Ethereum developer, Tim Beiko shares the latest Merge updates in a recent thread of tweets ”We wrapped up another ethereum all core devs earlier today – covered the latest on Merge testing, testnet plans, and a handful of EIPs”.

About Merge testing, he says that core devs now have an updated timeline for shadow forks. Two shadow forks are planned for next week: the 4th Goerli shadow fork is planned for Tuesday and the 2nd mainnet shadow fork is for next Saturday.

Shadow forks are testnet/mainnet forks that happen but only on a very small number of nodes, controlled by the client and testing teams. The Ethereum developer says that shadow forking might continue until stability is attained.

He says ”Because we want to target as many existing users as possible, and that there is a larger risk of misconfiguration, we’d rather run this process on a network which will be shut down sometime after the merge: Ropsten”

Beiko continues ”One thing which is implicit here, is that Rinkeby *won’t* be transitioned through The Merge. So, if you are using the network, we recommend moving to either Sepolia or Goerli, both of which are expected to be maintained post-merge. Neither Rinkeby nor Ropsten will be shut down overnight, but they will be deprecated”.

As previously reported by kryptomoney, the Ethereum developer recently shared a new timeline indicating the Merge event might no longer happen in June as anticipated.
