SEC Approves NYSE and Cboe to List Options for Multiple Spot Bitcoin ETFs

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved NYSE American LLC and Cboe Exchange, Inc. to list and trade options on multiple spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

This “accelerated approval” allows for the trading of options on various ETFs, including the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, ARK21Shares Bitcoin ETF, Invesco Galaxy Bitcoin ETF, Franklin Bitcoin ETF, VanEck Bitcoin Trust, WisdomTree Bitcoin Fund, Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust, Bitwise Bitcoin ETF, iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, and Valkyrie Bitcoin Fund, as detailed in NYSE’s filing.

Cboe also received similar accelerated approval for the listing and trading of these products. According to a filing released on Friday, the SEC found that the proposed rule changes comply with Section 6(b)(5) of the Act, which mandates that exchanges implement rules to prevent fraudulent and manipulative practices, enhance market mechanisms, and protect investors and the public interest.

The SEC first approved these spot Bitcoin ETFs in January and had previously authorized the listing of options on the iShares Bitcoin Trust on Nasdaq ISE, LLC in September.
