Gate.io has officially denied rumors of a security breach, asserting that the platform remains secure and fully operational. The company addressed the issue in a statement posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
The rumors, which began circulating early Friday on X and Telegram chat groups, claimed that Gate.io had been hacked. However, no specific details or evidence of an attack were provided.
Gate.io quickly dismissed the claims, stating, “The Gate.io security team has not detected any abnormalities, nor have any security agencies reported issues. Deposits, withdrawals, and trading are functioning normally. Please do not believe rumors!”
Despite calls from some social media users urging customers to withdraw funds from the exchange, on-chain data from DefiLlama showed no significant changes in the platform’s total assets.
In a follow-up statement on its official website, Gate.io “strongly condemned” the spread of false information aimed at causing panic. The company also warned that it would “pursue legal action” against individuals or groups responsible for spreading the misinformation.
