A temporary outage at an Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center disrupted several major crypto platforms today, including Binance, KuCoin, Rabby, and DeBank.
Binance briefly suspended withdrawals after transaction failures and inconsistent order executions, highlighting the growing concern over centralized infrastructure dependence.
While services have started to recover, the incident triggered frustration online and reignited calls for decentralized solutions. Some praised Binance for transparent updates during the downtime, while others, including decentralized cloud providers, used the moment to promote alternatives.
This isn’t the first time AWS issues have shaken the crypto space—similar disruptions occurred in 2021. With AWS hosting over 30% of global cloud workloads, the event serves as a stark reminder of the fragility that centralized systems bring to even the most prominent players in crypto.
