Mihailo Bjelic, co-founder of Polygon, has announced his departure from the Polygon Foundation board and is stepping back from daily involvement at Polygon Labs. Sharing the news on May 23, 2025, Bjelic reflected on the project’s growth since 2019 and cited evolving visions as the reason for his exit. While no longer active, he will continue to support the project from the sidelines.
Bjelic’s departure follows those of co-founders Jaynti Kanani (October 2023) and Anurag Arjun (March 2023). Fellow co-founder Sandeep Nailwal praised Bjelic’s contributions, calling him “more than a co-founder.” The move marks a significant shift in leadership as Polygon continues to evolve as a major Ethereum layer-2 solution.
MATIC was trading at around 0.2393 USD on Coinbase, reflecting a modest 3.2% decrease within the prior 24 hours, according to data from TradingView. Trading volume for MATIC/USDT plummeted by 1.27% to 142 million USD in the same period, signaling heightened market fluctuation.
