Adidas Originals to Debut NFT Collection on December 17th

Adidas Originals announced that it will launch its debut non-fungible token (NFT) collection with exclusive access to some products. The collection, titled  will go on sale on Adidas’ official website on December 17th for 0.2 ETH, about $810 as of press time..

Although not much is currently known about the digital assets, the sportswear giant revealed that they would function as access tokens. What this means is that holders will have exclusive access to future merchandise, and physical and digital products and services. In addition, token holders will also be privy to rewards within the new land plot in The Sandbox.

Earlier this month, Adidas Originals announced it would venture into the metaverse. Furthermore, the iconic German apparel line stated that it had established partnerships with Bored Ape Yacht Club, GMoney, and PUNKS Comics. Adidas Originals further asserted that they believed the metaverse was a platform that induced people to be true to themselves.

Speaking on his expectations for Adidas’ foray into the NFT market, NFT influencer GMoney said:

“They have been very thoughtful and deliberate on their entrance into the space. I think they will help empower communities and creators by building together.”

As the opportunities of the metaverse – and by extension Web 3 and NFTs become more prevalent, many established corporations are beginning to take notice. Furthermore, celebrities and cultural influencers alike are also looking to be part of this growing trend.
