Music streaming platform Audius has released a new functionality that permits users to embed non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on several social media platforms – including Twitter and Discord. Audius, which is based in California, and looking to increase the discoverability of Solana’s NFTs, issued a statement which read:
“NFT holders can embed their collectibles from the two biggest blockchains on Twitter timelines, personal blogs, and websites. Thanks to this new feature, will further push collectibles into the mainstream.”
Audius’ embed functionality displays NFT metadata which artists can use to commercialize and monetize their talent. According to reports, the platform aims to enhance the fan engagement experience for musicians via NFT adoption and Web 3.0 integrations. To achieve this, artists and fans would need to integrate their Audius accounts with the Phantom wallet. The latter is a digital currency wallet that revolves around the Solana ecosystem.
Audius channels the power of the blockchain, and showcases several prominent artists. They include Katy Perry, Nas, and rock/pop band The Chainsmokers. Since the beginning of this year till date, the music streaming platform has seen a sevenfold increase in users.
Twitter has already established an in-house team to oversee and monitor decentralized applications, digital currencies, and blockchain. This is a deviation from most third-party platforms, which are still experimenting with features they hope would attract an already established crypto community.
