The situation for Binance in Nigeria has deteriorated as Tigran Gambaryan’s health declines. Gambaryan collapsed during a May 23 money laundering trial after receiving malaria treatment in prison.

His lawyers, Aluko & Oyebode, reported his worsening condition and requested comprehensive medical care. The U.S. Consul in Abuja also called for immediate treatment.

Gambaryan’s wife described prison conditions as devastating and urged his release. Gambaryan, Binance, and fugitive Nadeem Anjarwalla face charges of money laundering, tax evasion, and currency speculation totaling $35 million.

The trial is adjourned to June 20, 2024, with a separate tax evasion hearing delayed to June 14, 2024.

Gambaryan was denied bail due to flight risk concerns, while Anjarwalla escaped to Kenya.

Binance CEO Richard Teng called for Gambaryan’s release and mentioned an alleged bribery attempt involving a significant crypto payment to settle the matter out of court.
