Recent comments from Steve Wozniak confirm that the Apple co-founder is still a Bitcoin bull. Speaking during a virtual Latin American event, – Talent Land Digital 2021 – Wozniak described Bitcoin as a “unique mathematical formula” and also a “miracle of technology”.
Even though he has no position in Bitcoin, Wozniak also told his audience that Bitcoin is much better than gold. The co-founder suggested that creating Bitcoin, however difficult, is still considerably easier than gold. He further said:
“Gold is limited and you have to look for it. Bitcoin is the most amazing mathematical miracle. I do not invest in Bitcoin, but I believe it’s here to stay.”
Wozniak has previously described Bitcoin as the “only digital gold.” Although there’s no telling when he’ll invest or even temporarily hold any amount of Bitcoin, Wozniak believes Bitcoin is a miracle.
Both gold and Bitcoin are similar in the sense that they are limited in supply. Gold’s scarcity is mainly because extraction is difficult and only done in places where it can be found. For Bitcoin, although it also requires mining equipment and heavy power supply, its source code only allows for 21 million coins to be mined. The last Bitcoin is projected to be mined in 2140.
