Bitcoin Network Sees 22.3 Million Active Wallets In January After $42K All-Time High

BTC

The Bitcoin network saw its highest number of active wallets in January. This is the second milestone the Bitcoin network has achieved in the same month, after hitting a new all-time high of $42,000. Reports revealed that active BTC wallets in the past month were over 22.3 million. The new record beats the 21.6 million active wallets Bitcoin recorded in January 2017. Around that time, Bitcoin had also just hit a milestone price of more than $19,500.

In a tweet, on-chain analytics firm Glassnode said:

“In January, more than 22.3 million unique addresses were active in the network sending or receiving BTC – the highest monthly number in Bitcoin’s history to date.”

In addition, Glassnode said on its website that only BTC addresses that were involved in successful transactions were considered in collating the data.

Also in January, Bitcoin saw a record high in the number of new wallet addresses. There was a significant increase in the number of first time unique address owners on the BTC network. The new record also crushed the high recorded during the 2017 Bitcoin rally.

On the 7th of January, BTC saw more than 682,000 new wallets, more than its previous high of 655,000 new wallets recorded on the 17th of December, 2020.

At press time, Bitcoin is up 2.73% to $33,594.64.
