BitPay Announces Support for SHIB Payments

SHIB

Crypto payment service provide BitPay has added Shiba Inu (SHIB) to its list of supported assets. According to an official blog post on December 9th, BitPay stated that SHIB fans could use the BitPay app to “buy, store, swap and spend” the meme token. Furthermore, the crypto payment service provider also acknowledged SHIB’s remarkable price run this year, saying:

“Anonymously created in August 2020, the decentralized meme token is another token inspired by the Japanese dog breed Shiba Inu. The token has recorded the greatest increase in value and popularity in 2021 of all the cryptocurrencies thanks to its community of supporters, the SHIBArmy.”

BitPay also stated that users can apply for its BitPay debit card through its app. The card can then be loaded using several crypto wallet options and used at outlets that also accept MasterCard. However, the card only seems to be available in the US at the moment.

SHIB is currently receiving increasing support at several retail outlets across the US. One such is retail giant Walmart which accepts SHIB for online purchases as well as brick-and-mortar locations.

Those without the BitPay card can still spend SHIB at Newegg, another online retailer based in California. In addition, last month AMC Theaters CEO Adam Aaron announced that his company would soon be accepting SHIB as a means of payment.
