BTC Gains 5% As Elon Musk Meets With North American Bitcoin Miners

Bitcoin

Bitcoin surged 5% after Elon Musk revealed that he met with North American Bitcoin miners over environmental concerns. Before now, the top coin was on a steady decline since Musk criticized its energy usage. BTC dropped to about $30,000 in reaction to Musk’s statement.

However, Bitcoin climbed $38,000 on the 24th of May after the Tesla CEO announced his meeting with the North American miners. Musk said the miners are now committed “to publish currency & planned renewable usage & to ask miners WW to do so.”

Musk believes that this plan is “potentially promising”.

Shortly after Musk’s tweet, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor noted that he hosted the meeting. Saylor revealed some attendees, including Argo Blockchain, Core Scientific, Hive Blockchain Technologies, Blackcap, and Galaxy Digital. Others are Marathon Digital Holdings, Riot Blockchain, and Hut 8 Mining.

Saylor said further:

“The miners have agreed to form the Bitcoin Mining Council to promote energy usage transparency & accelerate sustainability initiatives worldwide.”

After the news, most major cryptos began to trade higher. At the time of writing, BTC is up 2.06% to $38,000. Also, ETH has gained more than 5% in the last 24 hours and now trades at $2,584.
