According to reports, Celsius, a crypto lending firm, was one of the affected parties in the recent BadgerDAO protocol hack, and lost $50 million to the breach. Earlier this week, decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol BadgerDAO confirmed that it suffered a security breach. Although not confirmed, reports further stated that the total value of assets lost was up to $120 million.
A Reddit user reported that Celsius lost the most in assets – 896 Wrapped Bitcoin ($51 million) out of all reported victims. The source allegedly connoted this by tracing the listed address of the victim to the crypto platform, saying it also interacted with other addresses owned by Celsius. As the Reddit user put it:
“All this means that there’s a high chance that the address who lost 900 BTC was owned by Celsius. Celsius has not confirmed anything yet, so this is all speculation for now, so we don’t know for sure if Celsius was affected or not.”
Celsius Network is a leading crypto lending firm set to be valued at up to $10 billion in 2022 via a $750 million funding round which took place in November. It is currently one of the most prominent platforms in the DeFi space. Prior to its latest November funding round, Celsius had also raised $400 million in a Series B funding round in the month of October.
