Ethereum Devs Share Dencun and ACDE Progress in Call #181

The 181st All Core Developers Execution (ACDE) Call, held on February 15, 2024, saw the Ethereum community convening virtually to discuss coordinated changes to the Ethereum execution layer (EL) and guide the network’s future.

Led by Tim Beiko, the Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Lead, key topics included preparations for the imminent mainnet activation of the Dencun upgrade, synchronization of nodes for a shadow fork test environment, and the release timeline for final client versions.

Retroactive Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) such as EIPs 7610 and 7523 were addressed, focusing on smart contract creation rules and account management post-merge.

Developers also scrutinized proposed EIPs for the Pectra upgrade, considering security, gas costs, and potential impacts on future upgrades.

Broader discussions encompassed transaction censorship prevention and the timing of the Pectra upgrade, emphasizing consensus building for efficient delivery.

This meeting highlights the Ethereum community’s commitment to innovation and continual enhancement of network robustness and scalability, paving the way for a decentralized and efficient blockchain ecosystem.
