Ethereum (ETH) To Receive Major Testnet Release on February 1: Details

Ethereum Merge

The Ethereum staking testnet Zhejiang will go live tomorrow, providing users with the first glimpse of what the withdrawal procedure and functionality will be like following the Shanghai update.

The testnet, which will go online at 10 a.m. EST on Wednesday, will not instantly allow users to check out any of the withdrawal features that will be enabled six days later in the Shanghai and Capella testnet updates. Users will be able to practice depositing to validators and get a sense of how the user interface will function.

Ethereum developer Barnabas Busa tweeted that the Ethereum developer operations team that built the testnet would make improvements as needed to improve the overall experience.

Since the Shanghai hard fork is the first post-Merge upgrade to enable Ether stakers to withdraw their balances, it is a widely anticipated event for Ethereum.

Ether traders are paying special attention to the event because, according to Selini Capital CIO Jordi Alexander on Twitter, the staking of the cryptocurrency might significantly grow as a result of the Shanghai upgrade.
