Ethereum Foundation Announces Q2 Funding for Projects and Conferences

Ethereum

The Ethereum Foundation released details of its funding in Q2, revealing an allocation of $9.2 million to support various projects, conferences and industry research. Among the recipients, community and education projects took precedence, encompassing over ten summits and conferences.

The scope of funded activities extended globally, with conferences and hackathons like ETH Barcelona, ETH Belgrade, ETH Prague, Ethereum Singapore and ETH Rome benefiting from the Foundation’s financial backing. The allocation of grants extended to Consensus Layer research focused on data availability sampling, distributed systems and staking infrastructure tools. Key Ethereum clients, Nimbus and Lighthouse, saw ongoing development efforts.

Significant funding was channeled into cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs, aiding the development of tools like Chiquito and Hypernova for streamlined zk circuit construction. Additionally, privacy-centric protocols such as Lambdadelta, Isokratia, and zkEmail were supported. Foundational protocols like Halo2 and Semaphore continued to receive backing.

Developer experience and tooling improvements remained priorities, as evidenced by the funding of Recovery Pulse for smart contract recovery.

Execution Layer projects, including the Fluffy Light client, and Nethermind internships, were also recipients of financial support. Developing the Nimbus execution layer and the layer-2 Beacon Chain blockchain explorer also secured funding.

Despite the ongoing bear market, the Ethereum Foundation‘s ecosystem support program (ESP) remains committed to fostering growth within the expansive ecosystem of the largest smart contract network in the cryptocurrency landscape.

In related news, reports surfaced indicating that former U.S. President Donald Trump possesses Ethereum holdings ranging from $250,000 to $500,000. These holdings are likely linked to the sale of his self-themed NFT collection.
