Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade is progressing smoothly, with Tim Beiko confirming that Ephemery now supports Pectra. Galaxy Digital researcher Christine Kim stated that client teams are finalizing testnet releases to ensure a seamless transition.
The Holesky testnet fork is scheduled for February 24, followed by Sepolia on March 5. These test deployments will help developers identify and resolve issues before the mainnet activation.
If no major setbacks occur, Pectra is expected to launch on Ethereum’s mainnet approximately 30 days after the Sepolia fork, with an official upgrade date to be finalized once Sepolia’s deployment is successful. The mainnet upgrade is likely to take place in April.
Ethereum’s highly anticipated Pectra upgrade might launch on April 8, following testnet deployments on Holesky (February 24) and Sepolia (March 5). Key improvements include doubling Ethereum’s blob space from three to six blobs per block, enhancing Layer 2 data availability, reducing costs, and improving network performance.
The upgrade will also accelerate ETH burning, reinforcing Ethereum’s deflationary model. While ETH’s price remains below $3,000, on-chain data shows increased network activity, with Ethereum’s total value locked (TVL) reaching a two-year high.
Investor interest in Ethereum ETFs continues to grow, with net inflows hitting $3.14 billion. Additionally, a recent SEC filing for staking in the 21Shares Core Ethereum ETF could further boost demand. With Pectra’s launch approaching, Ethereum’s ecosystem remains a key focus for developers and investors.
