Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has addressed criticisms of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), defending Executive Director Aya Miyaguchi and reiterating Ethereum’s commitment to decentralization.
Buterin dismissed calls for Miyaguchi’s resignation and demands to promote researcher Danny Ryan, emphasizing that leadership decisions remain his responsibility until ongoing reforms establish a formal board structure.
The EF plans to focus on enhancing technical expertise and improving communication within the ecosystem, while Buterin rejected accusations of centralization, pointing out that EF is just one part of Ethereum’s decentralized framework. He also called for other organizations, like Consensys, to take on complementary roles.
The Foundation has faced additional scrutiny for its financial practices, particularly periodic ETH sales, with community members urging more transparency and a shift toward staking opportunities.
Buterin encouraged the community to focus on practical contributions, such as funding hackathons and grants, instead of engaging in divisive debates, reinforcing Ethereum’s vision as a decentralized “world computer.”
