Gemini Lands VASP Approval in France Plans to Offer Retail and Institutional Services

Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has received approval as a virtual asset services provider from the French regulator, Autorite des marches financiers.

The platform is set to launch its services for retail and institutional customers in France, providing access to a range of 70 cryptocurrencies through Gemini’s various channels.

Gillian Lynch, Gemini’s Head of Ireland and EU, expressed excitement about expanding access to crypto in Europe and emphasized Gemini’s commitment to offering compliant and secure access to the future of finance.

The move comes as Gemini experiences consistent monthly increases in trading volume, with a 26.4% surge to $1.58 billion in spot trading volume in December 2023.

Additionally, other crypto firms, such as Circle, are also eyeing the French market, with conditional registration from the AMF and the appointment of Coralie Billmann as Head of French Operations.

This trend reflects the growing interest and presence of crypto companies in the evolving global landscape.
