Bitcoin’s anonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto will be immortalized with bronze in Hungary’s capital city of Budapest. The life-size bronze statue will be erected near Apple founder Steve Jobs’ statue in Graphisoft Park located in Budapest’s 3rd district.
News outlet Hungary Today revealed that sculptors Reka Gergely and Tamas Gilly are in charge of designing the statue. The sculptors have begun work and have revealed a figure wearing a hoodie and the Bitcoin logo as a brooch.
Gergely and Gilly plan to build the face with reflective material so viewers can view themselves when they look at the statue. The idea is to preach that “we are all Satoshi.”
Crypto enthusiast Andras Gyorfi, who initiated the project, spoke about the benefits Bitcoin and blockchain technology bring to the world. He said:
“It is an efficient, fair, and transparent database that eliminates distrust between people and can make the world a better place in many areas, from food supply to aid delivery.”
Already, four organizations are offering financial support for the project. They include Mr. Coin, Crypto Academy, Blockchain Hungary Association, and Blockchain Budapest.
Erecting Nakamoto’s statue is another sign of crypto acceptance in Hungary. The Hungarian government recently announced a plan to cut taxes on crypto trading from 30.5% to 15%.
