Interactive Brokers to Offer Crypto Trading Next Summer

Crypto

Trading platform Interactive Brokers will begin to offer direct crypto trading to customers in the coming months. The founder of the US-based exchange company, Thomas Peterffy, revealed plans to enter the crypto space while speaking at the Piper Sandler Global Exchange & FinTech Conference.

According to Peterffy, client demand fueled the company’s decision. He said that customers are asking for crypto trading and Interactive Brokers will expectedly begin meeting their demands by the end of the summer.

Although Peterffy did not specify any assets, the company’s crypto offering is expected to feature Bitcoin.

Also, Peterffy spoke about possible challenges with the new trading feature. He noted that the greatest hiccup is how to ensure customer security. He explained:

“How do you make it 100% sure that no one will steal their coins in spite of the fact that they are untraceable. We will find out more about this when we open for business at the end of the summer.”

Interactive Brokers has grown over the last 43 years to become one of the leading securities firms with more than $9 billion in equity capital. As stated on its website, Interactive Brokers provides several assets to traders, including stocks, futures, options, currencies, bonds, and funds.
