JP Morgan To Look Into Crypto and Web3 Payment Prospects

JP Morgan, a global leader in banking and finance, is expanding its technology team by hiring a Vice President for Payments Business Development. Per JP Morgan’s most recent job postings on LinkedIn, the company is looking to participate in cryptocurrency, Web3, and Metaverse payment opportunities. The bank is seeking to hire a “curious and dynamic” executive who has technical expertise in blockchain and who could lead the business.

The bank is looking into ways to enter the markets, and the job description refers to the cryptocurrency industry as a “sea of technological change.” The vice president’s primary duties include leading the team and securing payment opportunities in the Metaverse, Web3, and cryptocurrency.

The hiring indicates that JP Morgan is strongly considering entering the cryptocurrency market ahead of other major banking institutions to gain an advantage.

The JD stated that the appointee would “Identify and win new payments opportunities in the Web 3, Crypto, Fintech, & Metaverse industry sub-vertical,” as well as supervise, examine, and comprehend the operational framework of clients and their cryptocurrency payments targets.

Top JP Morgan executives recently left their positions to work for cryptocurrency companies, which coincides with the hiring. Over the past two years, the leading bank has lost top talent to cryptocurrency payment companies.

Three senior executives left their positions to join cryptocurrency companies in just the third quarter of 2022. Former Managing Director Eric Wragge, Head of Ideation Puja Samuel, and Head of Asset Management Sales Samir Shah are among the executives.

The bank is currently attempting to stay in front of the financial change that is steadily but gradually transforming the global economy. They will be able to keep top talent who transfer to crypto firms in search of lucrative opportunities if they dive into the crypto and Web3 payment opportunities.
