Ledger Warns XRP Holders About Major Issue: Details

Ledger Support has issued a warning to XRP holders about a fraudulent scheme targeting the community through deceptive airdrops.

The scam, highlighted in a recent post, presents itself as a live airdrop promising significant returns, using social media platforms to lure users with the prospect of an ETF and a gift program associated with XRP.

Users are encouraged to join and invest through a provided link, but the entire operation is a hoax involving deepfake videos and falsified endorsements.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has criticized YouTube for allowing the proliferation of such deep-fake scam videos, raising concerns about the platform’s diligence in addressing these threats.

These videos, which use manipulated old footage to propagate fraudulent narratives, have become increasingly sophisticated, with AI mimicking the voices and likenesses of well-known figures in the cryptocurrency space.

Garlinghouse’s call to action against YouTube comes after a previous legal dispute where Ripple sued the video hosting service for its failure to address similar scams. Although that case was settled, the recent surge in deepfake scams raises concerns about the platform’s diligence in combating such threats.
