Matic Network Rebrands, Changes Name To Polygon

IOHK

The Matic Network has announced that it would be rebranding to Polygon. According to the announcement on the 9th of February, the rebranding will not affect existing products and tokens. The Matic Network noted that the branding signifies its transitioning into a layer-two aggregator.

Before now, the Matic Network has been working on developing layer-two solutions in the Ethereum blockchain. Apart from the lawyer-two solution, the project is also developing an independent proof-of-stake blockchain.

Polygon would support its in-house platforms and other Ethereum scalability solutions like Optimistic Rollups, ZkRollups, and StarkWare’s Validium. Also, Polygon would execute its plans with the help of a new Polygon SDK. With the SDK, developers will be able to build their DApps on a scalable and Ethereum-anchored infrastructure. That way, the developers would not need to choose a particular technology.

As stated in a Cointelegraph report, the co-founder of Matic and Polygon, Sandeep Nailwal, commented on the branding and what Polygon is set to do. The executive noted that leveraging the new Polygon SDK would involve various interoperability mechanisms.

In addition, Nailwal revealed that some of Polygon’s advisors described the strategy as a kind of “Polkadot on Ethereum.” Polygon has welcomed some prominent Ethereum developers and influencers as part of the project’s strategy. They include Ryan Sean Adams, Hudson Jameson, Anthony Sassano, and John Lilic.
