MicroStrategy Boosts Bitcoin Holdings to 226.5K

MicroStrategy acquired 12,222 bitcoins for $805.2 million in Q2, bringing its total to 226,500 BTC at an average cost of $36,821 per bitcoin as of July 31.

The company introduced a new key performance indicator, “BTC yield,” which is 12.2% year-to-date and aims for 4% to 8% annually over the next three years.

This KPI measures the ratio of bitcoin holdings to diluted shares outstanding. CEO Phong Le highlighted optimism about bitcoin support and global adoption of the company’s software.

Despite these gains, MicroStrategy reported a quarterly loss of $5.74 per share on $111.4 million in sales, with operating expenses up 134% due to digital asset impairments.

The company confirmed a 10-for-1 stock split effective August 7 and plans a new $2 billion equity offering. The stock closed down 6% at $1,511.81 but is up 120% year-to-date.
