MicroStrategy Splashes Additional $177 Million on Bitcoin Taking Total to 108,992 BTC

Data analytics company MicroStrategy has announced another investment in Bitcoin. According to an official MicroStrategy publication, the company purchased about 3,907 Bitcoin, spending nearly $177 million on the new coins.

The publication also disclosed that the purchase cost an average price of about $45,294 per Bitcoin, including all expenses and fees. The purchase happened between July 1 and August 23, 2021.

MicroStrategy now owns approximately 108,992 Bitcoins purchased at an aggregate price of $2.918 billion. This represents an average purchase price of about $26,759, including expenses and fees.

At the moment, MicroStrategy has more Bitcoin than any other corporation in the world. Headed by Michael Saylor, the company has announced a few periodic Bitcoin purchases over time. In October last year, Saylor declared that he personally had 17,732 BTC, which he bought at an average of $9,882 per Bitcoin.

In June, MicroStrategy spent $489 million on 13,005 coins at an average of $7,617 per coin. In September last year, the company made Bitcoin its primary reserve asset and purchased 16,769 Bitcoins for $175 million.

As of press time, Bitcoin is trading just over $48,000 after a near 3% 24-hour loss and more than 4% in its 7-day gain.
