NFT Marketplace OpenSea Discord Server Compromised by Hacker

A crypto-journalist has published a screenshot from OpenSea‘s main Discord channel, the world’s largest marketplace for non-fungible tokens. It appears that hackers have gained access. Scammers infiltrated the main OpenSea Discord channel and started broadcasting fake collaboration news, as per Mr. Wu.

Scammers claimed that OpenSea had teamed with YouTube video hosting and was about to provide a unique NFT drop to commemorate the collaboration. Only the first 100 participants will receive a 100 percent discount on their tokens. As a result, OpenSea Discord subscribers should click on what looks to be a phishing link right away. The incident is presently being discussed in the community, and a report from the team would provide a more complete picture.

Anything may be used to obtain access to a wallet, as one user pointed out, and you don’t have to provide passwords or private keys. Projects now have to deal with the potential of impersonation and must watch their social media accounts 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Fraudsters also try to entice OpenSea supporters by offering “insane utilities” from YouTube for people who claim the NFTs. They, like other scammers, say that this offer is limited and that the mint will not have another round. It’s unknown whether any users were affected by the hack or whether any NFTs were lost.

Similar attacks have been reported in the NFT space, where Discord servers are frequently hacked to advertise fraudulent giveaways. This happened on the Discord server of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. More recently, the Bored Ape Instagram account was hacked to promote a false NFT mint, which raked in $2.8 million in NFTs from unsuspecting users.

Because of the large amount of money going into NFT projects, it has become a major target for hackers, who are having a good time and are using these tactics.
