One of The New York Times’ Columns Up for Purchase as NFT

New York

The New York Times has joined the NFT craze as the American daily newspaper turned one of its columns into a non-fungible token and put it up for sale.

NYT tech columnist Kevin Roose stated details about the NFT in a report, asking, “Why can’t journalists join the NFT party, too?”

The column revealed that funds generated from the 24-hour sale would be converted into USD and go to NYT’s Neediest Cases Fund. The fund supports social causes in New York and other places.

The buyer will feature in a follow-up report about the sale. The report will contain the buyer’s name, affiliation, and an image of their choice. However, the buyer may also settle for anonymity.

At press time, the auction is ongoing on the NFT marketplace Foundation and will end in less than 18 hours. The current bid is 5.69ETH.

News on the New York Times NFT sales came after TIME Magazine revealed plans to auction three of its magazine covers in the form of NFTs. Interested buyers can buy the NFTs individually or as a collection on NFT marketplace SuperRare. The auction is ongoing until the 24th of March. At press time, the highest bid is 34.1 ETH.
