Adult entertainment website Pornhub recently revealed that Paypal without any notice, had discontinued the use of its platform for live payments for Pornhub models. Along with the announcement, Pornhub has now suggested crypto payments for the affected models.
According to Pornhub, several thousand models were affected:
“We are all devastated by PayPal’s decision to stop payouts to over a hundred thousand performers who rely on them for their livelihoods.”
The announcement then links to payment options for the models which include a direct deposit and the use of Verge cryptocurrency. In April last year, Pornhub entered into an official partnership with Verge (XVG), announcing that it will now allow people to use the XVG to pay for Pornhub Premium content and several other purchases as well. Pornhub further adds that models who would like to receive payment via XVG must have the XVG wallet. XVG’s value increased just a little bit, shortly after Pornhub’s announcement. However, the rise was not maintained as it has generally dropped more than 9% this week.
On Twitter, quite a number of people immediately began to suggest to Pornhub, that the company should look into being more open to providing support for other digital assets such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and even Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
