Ripple Prepares To Open a New India Office

Ripple

One of the most well-known blockchain firms, Ripple, is planning to create a new office in Bengaluru, India. The public became aware of the development when Ripple published a new job opening in Bengaluru for a Senior Project Manager, Central Banks.

According to the job posting, Ripple may be launching a new office in India. Bengaluru is known as India’s “Silicon Valley,” so it’s no surprise that the company chose this area for its headquarters.

The job description shows the applicant would be in charge of managing the company’s partnerships with various central banks. Many Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) projects will be overseen by the chosen candidate.

Furthermore, even though the applicant is based in India, he or she will work closely with other Ripple departments based in other countries to develop solutions that will benefit the global financial system.

While the applicant may be based in Bengaluru, the job description states that the applicant’s work may be based in India, Singapore, the United States, or the United Kingdom.

This isn’t Ripple’s first foray into the Indian market. The company announced its Mumbai offices in September 2017, with Navin Gupta appointed as country manager. At the time, CEO Brad Garlinghouse noted:

“India is transforming itself into a digital economy and is an innovative leader in payments.” “Our new office in Mumbai, led by Navin, will allow us to respond to the rapidly-growing demand for frictionless payments by our current customers, Axis Bank and YES Bank, as well as other banks and non-banks across the country,”

At a discussion at the Wharton School of Business in 2018, Asheesh Birla, Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Product, discussed how Ripple went about gaining a majority market share and establishing itself in the global economy.

Birla stated that the company would make every effort to persuade Indian financial institutions to participate in RippleNet.
