The team behind SHIB has made an exciting announcement, revealing the beta version release of the Shibarium Bridge for public testing. This bridge will enable users to transfer tokens between two networks, marking a significant step forward for the project.
In its initial phase, the Shibarium Bridge will facilitate the transfer of testnet ether tokens to the layer-2 network. The team aims to make each transfer quick and efficient, with a maximum time frame of up to 30 minutes.
What sets the Shibarium Bridge apart is its compatibility with the ERC-20 token standard, focusing on enhancing scalability. This development comes on the heels of Shytoshi Kusama, a prominent developer, announcing that Shibarium is scheduled to go live after an upcoming conference in Toronto, set to take place in August this year.
While updates regarding the highly anticipated layer-2 have spurred minor rallies, concerns about Shibarium’s code previously impacted the value of SHIB considerably in March. However, the addition of Shibarium, especially the layer-2 component, is seen as critical for positioning the meme coin among more serious contenders in the Web3 space.
