South Korea Requests Interpol To Enforce Red Alert on Terra Founder Do Kwon

South Korean prosecutors have reportedly requested that Interpol, an international organization that facilitates international police cooperation and crime control, issue a red notice against Do Kwon.

According to the Financial Times, Kwon, the co-founder of crypto firm Terraform Labs, is allegedly refusing to cooperate with an investigation into the $40 billion implosion of the tokens TerraUSD and Luna.

For fugitives wanted for prosecution or to serve a sentence, red notices are issued. A red notice, according to Interpol’s website, is “a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.”

South Korean prosecutors reportedly requested that Kwon’s South Korean passport be revoked because he was “obviously on the run and has no intention of appearing before us for questioning.”

“We have begun the procedure to place him on the Interpol red notice list and revoke his passport,” the prosecutor’s office said Monday, adding that Kwon had refused to cooperate with investigations into Terraform’s implosion.

Kwon stated on Saturday that he is not attempting to elude any authorities. “I am not ‘on the run’ or anything similar – [from] any government agency that has shown interest to communicate, we are in full cooperation, and we don’t have anything to hide,” Kwon recently tweeted, in response to reports that Singaporean police officials claimed he is no longer residing in the city-state nation.

According to the South Korean prosecutor’s office, Kwon told investigators through his lawyer that he did not want to respond to their summons right away.

The red notice comes just days after Korean authorities issued an arrest warrant for Kwon and attempted to freeze his passport, requiring him to return to Seoul within 14 days of receiving the notice of revocation.

According to a Bloomberg report citing government records, Kwon’s Singapore employment pass is set to expire on December 7, and an application for a new pass is in the works.
