Spot Bitcoin (BTC) ETF Ads to Hit Google Today

Google Search | Google | Bitcoin | Rise

Google is updating its advertising policy to allow certain cryptocurrency projects, specifically “Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts,” to be promoted on major search engines starting January 29, 2024.

Advertisers can showcase these products in the United States if they meet Google’s criteria and are certified by the platform. “Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts” are defined as financial products enabling investors to trade shares in trusts holding substantial digital currency pools.

This policy change is speculated to be influenced by the recent approval of 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on January 10.

These ETFs permit investors to buy shares representing a stake in the fund’s Bitcoin holdings, aligning with Google’s updated requirements.

Google has relaxed its crypto advertising policy, reflecting the evolving landscape. While traditionally cautious about crypto-related ads, Google has become more lenient.

In August 2023, the company updated its policy to allow ads for NFT games, crypto-accepting companies, and licensed crypto exchanges and wallets. However, restrictions still apply to ads for ICOs, gambling, and staking NFTs.
