UBS Launches Ethereum-Based Tokenized Fund

UBS Asset Management has launched its first tokenized investment fund, called the “UBS USD Money Market Investment Fund Token” (uMINT), on the Ethereum blockchain.

Available for authorized distribution partners across Singapore, this fund allows investors to gain exposure to institutional-grade money market assets in a secure, risk-managed setting.

Tokenization, the process of converting traditional assets like stocks and bonds into digital tokens on a blockchain, enables more efficient buying, selling, and holding of asset portions.

UBS is tapping into the growing interest in tokenization by combining its global reach with regulatory partnerships. This move follows a trend among major financial players venturing into tokenized assets.

Earlier this week, Franklin Templeton added Coinbase’s Base as a blockchain option for its OnChain U.S. Government Money Market Fund, and Wellington Management partnered with Ondo Finance to enhance liquidity for its tokenized U.S. Treasury Fund, making traditional financial products more accessible through blockchain technology.
