Uniswap Founder Warns Crypto Users of ENS Domain Fraudsters

Hayden Adams, the founder of Uniswap, has warned the crypto community about a surge in scams targeting users through deceptive user interfaces in crypto wallets.

Scammers are using fake clones of Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains to deceive users and steal funds. Adams highlighted a specific scam where fraudsters mimic legitimate Ethereum addresses, leading unsuspecting users to send funds to the scammer’s address instead.

He emphasized the importance of UI filters to combat these scams. Nick Johnson, the founder of ENS, suggested refraining from auto-completing names in interfaces to mitigate risks.

Scammers have previously exploited ENS domains to mimic major exchanges’ wallets, aiming to intercept payments directed to these fraudulent addresses. Users are urged to exercise caution to avoid inadvertently sending assets to these fake domains.

This event reflects a wider trend of scams impacting the crypto industry, including advanced email phishing and social media schemes impersonating legitimate crypto entities. It underscores the susceptibility of the crypto space to exploitation by scammers.
