The Ethereum mainnet is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary on July 30, with global crypto communities preparing widespread events to mark the milestone. As the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum has become the foundational backbone of decentralized finance (DeFi) and Web3 innovation over the past decade.
Industry leaders are emphasizing the significance of this anniversary, particularly amidst recent positive legislative developments in the U.S., such as the GENIUS Act. ReserveOne CEO Jaime Leverton confirmed a private Nasdaq event during the July 30 closing bell in New York, alongside ETHGlobal’s “10 Years of Ethereum” celebration.
Other U.S. festivities include hackathons and community meetups in San Francisco and Austin. Across Europe, events are planned in Dublin, Zug (Switzerland, Ethereum’s birthplace), Berlin, Lisbon, and Rome.
Industry figures like Safe co-founder Schor Lukas highlight Ethereum’s transition from an “experiment to infrastructure,” citing its resilience, deflationary shift post-EIP-1559, and consistent uptime. Looking ahead, Ethereum aims to become the world’s primary settlement layer, with advancements like proto-danksharding to improve scalability.
Julia Deufel of SheFi noted the community’s evolution into a diverse ecosystem, anticipating enhanced usability and integration with traditional industries in the next decade. The anniversary stands as a testament to what a global, open-source community can achieve through innovation and vision.
