Binance Executives Cleared of Nigeria Tax Charges

Binance expressed relief after Nigerian authorities dropped tax charges against executives Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, leaving Binance as the sole defendant.

However, Gambaryan and Anjarwalla still face money laundering charges along with Binance.

The executives were detained in Abuja on February 26, accused of making illegal transaction profits, with charges filed on February 28. Anjarwalla escaped custody on March 22, while Gambaryan remains detained.

U.S. lawmakers urged President Biden and other officials to secure Gambaryan’s release, citing health concerns.

During a May 22 court hearing, Gambaryan collapsed and was diagnosed with malaria, but his treatment order was not fully complied with.

Binance emphasized Gambaryan’s deteriorating health and stated that he is not essential for resolving issues with the Nigerian government, awaiting a court ruling for his discharge.
