Movie Theater Giant AMC Adds DOGE and SHIB to Payment Options for Customers

DOGE

AMC Entertainment Holdings announced that starting March 19th, it will begin accepting two more crypto assets at all its theater outlets. According to the world’s largest theater chain, customers will soon be able to pay with Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). Furthermore, payment using the popular meme-coin duo will be facilitated with blockchain payments processor BitPay. AMC chief executive officer Adam Aron confirmed the news on Twitter saying:

“BitPay will be live for AMC online payments on our website by March 19th, and live on our mobile apps by April 16th. Possibly a few days earlier.”

DOGE and SHIB join an already existing list of online digital currency payment options at AMC. The movie theater chain began accepting Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) back in November for online payments. This came after an initial announcement in August last year that it would accept crypto as payment.

When it first began accepting crypto, AMC promised to later add DOGE and SHIB, and has now made good on that promise. This also potentially placates customers who initially protested the omission of both meme coins in the first place.

As of press time, DOGE is trading at $0.1329, while SHIB is changing hands at $0.00002693.
